a silver volvo zoomed up to the front of the school, the tires screeching as it stopped in the front of the school. grace lynn carlson gripped onto the edge of her seat as her mother looked over at her, a smile on her face. for some reason, her mother and father really liked to go fast in the cars, which always gave grace a heart attack or two. grace gave her mother a small smile, before picking up her school bag and slinging it over her shoulder. she opened the car door, before looking back at her mom. "see you after school," grace said, one of her bright smiles on her face, before closing the door.
grace let out a loud sigh as she watched her mother drive away, before she slowly turned around and looked up at the school. she adjusted the strap of her bag as her golden eyes stared at the school, before letting out a deep breath. she was always nervous when she came to the school - nervous just in case she let her hunger get ahold of her. you never know what could happen. grace brushed her bangs out of her face, before making her way up to the school.
grace never really understood why she came so early. yeah, school was going to start in about two minutes, but she had a spare for first and she usually ended up coming to the school way later. but for some reason, she just decided to come in early this morning. she would probably find something to do, maybe even draw or something. drawing was grace's passion. she absolutely loved to draw and would do it all the time.
getting startled by the loud bell that echoed throughout the school yard, grace gazed around at the students that started to enter the school. after around five minutes, grace was alone, which made her let out a sigh. she slowly made her way up to the front steps. she eyed them before she slowly sat down in the shade. after a few seconds, grace opened up her school bag and pulled out her drawing book and a pencil. she flipped to a blank page then started to draw.

Post by LANDON FRELAND ! on Jan 8, 2009 22:04:30 GMT -6
a loud screech could be heard as a sleek black ferrari, whipped it's way into the school parking lot. obviously, he was late. and even though everyone was probably in class, why not make a entrance? pulling into the first free parking that he spotted, landon freland smirked to himself. it's wasn't so much of that he was a show off because he wasn't, it had more to due with the fact that he had just received the car a week ago for his eighteenth birthday. fun. he knew that it had to have taken a lot for his father to get his mother to agree to buying him a car with that kind of speed. jordan always seemed to worry over landon. which he loved and hated at the same time. however, he thought that her efforts were wasted and should have been placed more on his sister randi.
grabbing his black school bag out of the passenger seat, landon opened the door. he flung his bag over his shoulder and shut the driver's side door. having made sure to lock it before doing so. slipping the keys into his front pocket, he looked around the school yard. empty. he was late. oh well, no one would notice. his first period was his free one anyway. not his fault that he had misplaced his keys this morning. or that he had overslept. landon tended to sleep a lot, ever since. well, ever since he had turned sixteen. for reasons that he had soon discovered, and had been freaked out by. even with his father's explanation. he had never been the one for myths, legends, or fairy-tales. but apparently he had no choice but to believe that the one that his father had told him was true.
there was no other way to explain how he could morph into a wolf. he hadn't exactly asked to become a werewolf. running a hand through his hair, landon made his way up to the front steps. truthfully, he had, had a hard time excepting that there were things in this world such as vampires and werewolves. what next? was his sister going to dress up as tinkerbell and reveal that she was a fairy? however, landon had never encountered a vampire. and never really wanted too. jacob. his father had told him that vampires were their enemies, and had been for generations. and that a wolf could always recognize a vampire right off the bat. although the eighteen year old didn't really understand how, since he had never come to face to face with a situation like that in particular.
as he reached the front steps, a vaguely sickening smell reached his nose. although it seemed to be only slight. landon wrinkled his nose as he looked around. he noticed that a dark haired girl was sitting on the steps, drawing. he studied her for a moment, taking in her features. her long dark hair memorized him, and he watched as her warm colored brown eyes followed her drawing. her skin seemed to be pale, but not deathly just a ivory color. there was also a hint of a rosy color at her cheeks. but instantly he knew what she was. vampire. well, the slight stench she was giving off seemed to make him believe that. but it didn't seem to be that strong... she had no physical features of a vampire, and then he remembered something his father had said. a friend of his, along time ago. had married a vampire, and had conceived a child with him while she was still a human. maybe this was the child.. the half-vampire.
as landon studied her, a funny feeling washed over him. and it was like his vision blurred for a split second, before becoming clearer than ever. suddenly, somehow he felt connected to the girl. like something was binding him to her. although landon did not recognize what was going on. he found himself moving towards her, unable to stop himself. "hey there." he said, sitting down beside her. not thinking clearly, of just what he was doing.

grace brushed her side bangs out of her golden eyes as she stared down at her paper, brushing her pencil over a few areas of the page. she brought her thumb down and pressed down on the paper and moved her thumb across the page slowly, smudging some of the pencil she had drawn on a few seconds ago. she held her picture away from her slightly, tilting her head as she gazed down at it. something was off about the picture, but she couldn't quite figure out what it was. grace was a slight perfectionist, especially when it came to her drawings. she had at least thousands of drawings that weren't complete, just because there was something that bugged her about them.
letting out a groan, grace quickly flipped to another page. she would just have to finish that drawing later, or it would just probably stay unfinished along with her other pictures. grace slowly raised her head as she heard the loud screech of car tires enter the school parking lot. she assumed that it was someone who was late for first period, and she was most likely right about that. grace pushed her bangs out of her face once again, before staring down at the white page that was in front of her, soon letting her thoughts take over herself.
being a vampire wasn't that bad, seeing as she wasn't technically a vampire. she was a half-vampire, seeing as her mother was human when she conceived her, then got turned into a vampire when her mother gave birth to her. either way, grace sort of liked it. well, besides the whole blood drinking part. since she was a half-vampire, she could either eat human food or drink blood like her family, and she usually did that just to fit in. she felt out of place if she sat down at the kitchen table and had a salad or something. grace would only eat human food when she was in the public eye, and even then she craved the sweet taste of blood. one thing that grace absolutely hated was the myth's that always circled around her. y'know, the whole 'vampires can transform into bats and love to suck human blood'. human blood? please, mountain lions all the way. grace and her family were 'vegetarians', meaning that her family didn't hurt humans. instead, they hunted animals, which grace thought tasted way better.
grace's head instantly shot up when she smelt a disgusting smell. she tried her hardest not to gag. she was used to the delicious smell of humans, better never something like this. she instantly knew what it was though - a werewolf. her mother had always told her about them, though she had really never actually been near one. her mother's best friend was a werewolf, but grace had never met him. they drifted apart after grace was born, and she felt guilty for it afterwords. her mother would always talk about him, jacob black or something. grace never asked anything about him or the werewolf's, cause it was something that her family didn't like to talk about.
grace's golden eyes focused closely on a boy that started to walk up the steps towards her. he was definitely the source of the smell. when he sat down beside her, she wasn't too sure on how to act. should she be scared and run, or should she be nice? she let out a sigh, before looking over at the boy, giving him the best smile that she could at the time. "hello.."

landon was a unusual guy. but his appearance he tended to be labeled as a potential bad boy. but in reality he was the farthest thing from it. he tended to be very friendly and had a gift of making friends easily. he was easy going and had a knack for making people laugh, which he loved to do. he hated being judged, and didn't ever intend to live up to the bad boy reputation he had earned. it got on landon's nerves actually but he couldn't really necessarily do anything about it, so he had learned to get used to it.
he didn't know what was drawing him to this girl, and his mind had finally caught up with the rest of him. why was he talking to her? she was apparently the mortal enemy of his ancestors. and here he was, saying hello like she was merely nothing more than a new freshman who had lost her way. but something, like a invisible string seemed to be pulling him towards her. landon couldn't stay away. even if he wanted too. momentarily. he thought about just getting up and walking off. since the girl, uh, half-vampire really was just that she could easily detect what he actually was by the smell.
the scent of a werewolf was disgusting to a vampire. while the scent of a vampire was disgustingly too sickening sweet to a werewolf. landon smiled at the pretty brunette. "i'm landon. landon freland. i don't think we've met..." he trailed off. a smirk then replaced his smile as he leaned back, deciding to be friendly. what? there wasn't like a written rule book that stated that werewolves and vampires had to be mortal enemies. was there? hopefully not. his eyes trailed down to her drawing as he took it in. "wow, you're really good." landon complimented, looking back up at her.

another advantage about being a vampire was the advantages that you got with it, if that's what you'd actually want to call it. the one thing that she liked was the powers/abilities that you got with it. her father could read people's minds while her mother could put up a protective shield and block out other's abilities. grace on the other hand could touch people with her palms, cause that's the only place her power was held, and show them a collection of her thoughts and memories, which wasn't the best power out there. of course, grace wanted something to do with drawing. like, draw the future or something cool like that, cause that would actually come in handy at times. showing someone her thoughts came in handy..uhm, never?
grace instantly shot up an eyebrow in curiosity as he said his name. freland? wasn't that the last name of her mom's friend. if his disgusting stench didn't give away who he was, then his last name definitely would for her. if her father was around, or even her aunt or grandparents, they definitely wouldn't approve of her sitting here with a werewolf. vampires and werewolf's had been arch enemies for the longest time. something about vampires hunting on the werewolf territory or something. now, vampire's weren't even allowed to step and inch on their land, and if they did...well, grace didn't really want to think about the possibilities if that actually did happen.
grace slowly brought her hand up to her pale face, brushing her brown side bangs out of the way as a cool breeze blew past the two. she gave him a small smile. "i'm grace carlson, and i believe that we haven't," she said, putting a smirk on her face to match his. as her eyes curiously watched landon look at her drawings, she felt a wave of insecurity fill her body. she always got nervous when someone observed her drawings - scared of what they were going to say about them, so she was surprised when he complimented them. a small smile crept onto her face as she glanced down at her drawings, before back up at landon. "thanks, i try," she joked, with a playful roll of her eyes afterwords.
